CORON, PALAWAN is part of the Calamianes Group of Islands in the northern tip of Palawan, which is located in the Luzon region of the Philippines. It is a fishing village off Busuanga and is the home of the Tagbanua tribe. Coron coves and the Maquinit Hot Springs, Japanese naval wrecks form World War II, to name a few. Because of these attractions, Coron has transformed to be an underwater haven for avid divers and snorkelers, taking in all the beauty that lays underneath the sea and other majestic sites.
Getting there
By Plane: Flying to Coron (Busuanga) from Manila takes about one hour. You may contact us to inquire available flights going to Coron (Busuanga). Upon arrival in Busuanga there are air-conditioned vans waiting just outside the airport. They can transfer you to your Hotel in Coron Town for an approximate amount of PHP 150 per head, per way. You may also arrange your airport transfer in advance for a hassle free trip
By Boat: You may take a ferry ride from Manila and Puerto Princesa to Coron (Busuanga). The best option if you want to travel by boat to Coron (Busuanga) from Manila or Puerto Princesa is by taking 2GO Ferry (former known as Superferry). The 2GO Ferry leaves in the afternoon and arrives in the morning so even if it is a long boat ride you can get some sleep on the boat and wake up rested when you arrive in the morning. It is also a good alternative if you plan bringing heavy baggage like dive equipment since you are allowed to bring up to 80 kg for free. If you are coming from El Nido, there are also few boats going from El Nido to Coron but the trip schedule are usually once a week.

- Banana Island: Banana Island also known as Dicalabuan Island. It features a beautiful beach covered with fine white sand. The water is clear and if you swim out a bit from the shore you can enjoy excellent snorkeling. It will take 1.5 hours boat ride from Coron to Banana Island. Entrance fee starts at P200/person for a day tour
- Bulog Island: a small island which only takes minutes to walk around. One side of Bulog Island is rocky while the other side is made up of the finest white sand. It will take 1.5 hours boat ride from Coron to Bulog Island.
- CYC Island: a small Island and its one of the few beaches around Coron where they don't charge an entrance fee. The beach is small and therefor it sometimes get crowded. The Island is home to a monkey who gladly welcomes all the visitors hoping to get a treat.
- Malcapuya Island: It will take 1.5 hours boat ride from Coron to Malcapuya Island. The water of Malcapuya is shallow and you have to walk out quite a bit before it gets deeper. There are plenty of fishes fearlessly swimming around in the water and you can spot some giant clams at the bottom. The beach itself is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the Calamian Islands, so if you want to spend a day relaxing on the beach Malcapuya is definitely the place to go. Entrance fee is P200 per person. A side trip to the neighboring Islands; Banana Island and Bulog Island is highly recommended
- Siete Pecados is the most known and closest snorkeling destination around Coron. The literal meaning of the name Siete Pecados is "Seven Sins". The legend has it that seven sister went swimming against their mothers will, all of them drowned and afterwards seven islands appeared The marine life around the Islands are amazing, when you snorkel you will see countless of fishes and the bottom is covered with hard corals.
Where to Eat
- Amphibi-ko Restaurant serves a mix of Japanese and Filipino food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is located at the top floor of Amphibi-ko Resort Lodge. From the restaurant you have a great view over Coron bay. The restaurant is built in a open air style to let the cooling sea breeze in but make sure to pin down menus and napkins down if it gets windy.
- Bistro Coron is one of the most popular restaurants among tourists in Coron. Great location right in the center of town. The restaurant is run by a French guy named Bruno who settled down in Coron many years ago. They offer European and French food. The prices are a bit high but the food is great.Their sandwiches are a must try. Made on home-baked baguettes with a variety of fillings like, parma ham, blue cheese or smoked salmon. Simply the best you can find in Coron.
- Coron Edge Restobar is located away from the city noise at the foot of Mount Tapyas. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. They serve Asian and Filipino cuisine.
- Food Trip is a popular restaurant among the locals as well as among tourists. It is open restaurant located right next to the Harbour center. The menu consist mostly of filipino food but they also have some western meals. They offer excellent value for your money.
- Kookie Restaurant is located on the second floor in one of the buildings right beside the Coron Harbor Center. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance with its open dining area. Watch people pass by while enjoying a good meal. On the menu you will find different varieties of Asian, European and German delights.
- Sunz en Coron is located just outside town along Mabentangen road. The restaurant offers an excellent selection of Korean and Filipino food. The staff are friendly and provides good service. The hotel and restaurant was built 2010. Even though the surroundings outside the place is not so pleasing to the eye, they have managed to turn the area inside into a peaceful and quiet oasis. The atmosphere and the quality of food definitely makes this one of the best restaurants in Coron.
- Tita Esh Eatery is a small carinderia located on Real Street. They serve burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs and traditional Filipino food. The prices are among the lowest you will find in Coron yet the servings are generous. Perfect place for having breakfast.
